About Me
Hey everyone, my name is Justin Maurice Pondexter. I’m a content creator from Blythewood, SC. I attended Clemson University where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Communications and a Master’s Degree in Athletic Leadership. Content creation is a passion of mine that I’m thankful I was able to turn into a career. I’ve always been into the arts from a young age, but in the traditional sense (drawing, painting, pottery, etc.). It wasn’t until college where I found my true first love, photography. Photography is about capturing the moment. You can pack so much into a photograph that tells an amazing story. After all, “A picture is worth a 1000 words.” This process of storytelling really grabbed me and I didn’t want it to let go. This was my first encounter with creating content in the digital space. It was the gateway to me being exposed to so much more in this space. Learning other processes such as graphic design, videography, and motion design, which I quickly fell in love with as well. All of these things have one major thing in common, they help you to tell stories, which is ultimately what I enjoy doing.
With storytelling, you learn to fall in love with the process (the journey), not always the end result (the destination). The destination may not always be what you expect it to be, but you learn so much from the journey. This is why I never shy away from a task/project. You’ll never know how to do something if you never try. I remember one of my mentors telling me a long time ago that you should “fail often, and fail fast.” He didn’t mean he wanted us to do badly, but instead fail quickly, so we can learn from our mistakes and rebound quickly. This has really stuck with me.
I had some really great mentors who helped guide me along this journey and I can’t thank them enough for it. It is because of them that I like to pay it forward and help other young creators achieve their dreams by becoming a mentor to them. Everyone needs that someone who truly believes and wants to invest in them. I’m beyond thankful that I can be that person for others.
I’m currently working in the realm of collegiate athletics as a content creator, where I first got my start. I am constantly challenging myself to be better everyday. Not only a better creator/storyteller, but a better all around man. I wake up everyday pondering how I can better myself. That’s the only person I’m in competition with in this world, and I don’t ever see that changing.
